African Union seeks to prevent conflict & maintain peace with border policy
Ministers from across Africa say proper demarcation of borders across the continent plays a big role in preventing conflicts and maintaining peace and security.During a meeting held in Addis Ababa, under the African Union border programs, the ministers expressed their determination to sustain the contribution of the AU border program to the structural prevention of conflicts, promotion of regional and continental integration, as well as strengthening economic and social development in Africa. The AU’s border program was launched in 2007. It had set 2017 as a deadline to complete delimitation and demarcation of inter-state borders.
