The Ebola outbreak in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo is now an international health emergency.
The announcement by the World Health Organization was made just days after the virus spread to the city of Goma, a major regional hub on the DRC’s border with Rwanda.
Ebola has claimed at least 1,600 lives in the region in the past year.
And the country’s volatile security situation is complicating matters, as Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports from Nairobi.
